Adopt-A-Diabetic (coming soon!)
Beta Buddies is a fun mentoring program for diabetics and their parents. Beta Buddies (BB) is a network of diabetics who all share tips, advice and experiences on diabetes management.
Become A Mentee
It’s easy. No really. Just fill out the application form and leave it with your doctor, school nurse or drop it off at the Bahamas Diabetes Association Headquarters. We'll contact you once a match has been made and notify you of when and where the next group session or activity is so you can meet. Click here to download the application.
Become A Mentor
To become a mentor you must have been a diabetic for at least two (2) years. Just fill out the application form and leave it with your doctor, school nurse or drop it off at the Bahamas Diabetes Association Headquarters. Once the application has been received we'll contact you to set up an interview time and date. Mentors will also have to attend a free mentor training program and a few diabetes management classes.

Living with diabetes can be expensive, especially for those without insurance. Adopt-A-Diabetic is a program that allows businesses or members of the community to sponsor a diabetic to reduce the cost of living with diabetes. The sponsor will receive a letter every month from the sponsee giving a general update and saying thanks.
Beta Buddies

BB is a paired system with a mentor (a veteran diabetic) and a mentee (a new diabetic). Pairing can be within the same age group or diverged. Matches are based on goals, interests and hobbies. Tutoring is also offered.
All mentors go through training and follow a curriculum. Buddies must meet a time spent together requirement for each month. This can be reached through outings, dinners, attending events together etc.
